Latulia-Lechhera Micro Watershed Project covers 10 villages under Kanuri and Gogra Gram Panchayats in Saltora Block, Bankura. Currently in its Capacity Building Phase, the project focuses on natural resource management, livelihood enhancement, and community empowerment.
The key deliverables of the Latulia-Lechhera Watershed Development Project are aimed at driving sustainable rural development through the following outcomes
Increase in Soil Organic Carbon and improved soil health through biomass enhancement and microbial activity.
Afforestation, Social Fencing, and Horticulture development on wastelands to restore ecological balance.
Sustainable income generation through vegetable and spice cultivation, agroforestry, and horticulture-based interventions.
Promotion of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmers Clubs, and Producer Groups to facilitate skill development, value addition, and market linkage.
Financial Inclusion of all households within the watershed area by linking them with formal banking and financial systems.
Drudgery Reduction for women through access to water, fuel, and livelihood opportunities close to home.
Improved Hygiene and Sanitation, especially benefiting women and children.
Participation of women in planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, ensuring inclusive growth.
Reduction in Distress Migration by generating local employment and sustainable livelihoods.
Community Mobilization and Capacity Building for local ownership and long-term sustainability of interventions.
Strengthening the Village Institutions to ensure effective governance of natural resources.
