Malnutrition is a significant concern in the villages of Bankura District, where common diseases such as Diarrhea, Dysentery, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and Intestinal Worms persist. To combat these issues, GAWS has implemented various health and nutrition programs with support from government schemes and non-governmental organizations.
To improve the dietary intake of vulnerable households by providing easy access to home-grown vegetables and fruits.
To address food insecurity and improve nutrition, GAWS has encouraged 230 households to establish Kitchen and Nutrition Gardens. These gardens provide families with access to fresh, nutritious food, improving overall health and reducing dependency on external food sources.
Alongside nutrition initiatives, GAWS has focused on preventive health education, especially for mother groups within the villages. This program aims to educate communities about disease prevention, hygiene, and proper nutrition.
