With the vital support of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Gosaidihi Astha Welfare Society (GAWS) is proud to lead the formation and promotion of a Goatry-based Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) in the Simlapal Block of Bankura District, West Bengal.
This initiative is designed to enhance the livelihoods of small and marginal goat rearers by organizing them into a structured, member-owned enterprise that ensures better access to inputs, services, and markets. The support from NABARD ensures a technically sound, financially viable, and socially inclusive FPO model that can scale and sustain over time.
Goat farming (Goatry) serves as a sustainable and income-generating livelihood option, especially in the drought-prone regions of Bankura. Despite being low-cost and highly adaptive, traditional goat farmers often struggle with inadequate access to resources, veterinary care, and organized markets.
